News from the Shop

Howdy, friends!

I started writing this while hanging out at Macon-Bibb County’s Earth Day Celebration (Saturday) and in conjunction with the Earth Day Committee, we gave away four Jamis bikes to some stoked kids from our community! This is always a fun day for us as we are able to work with the winning families to help them find the perfect sized “bike shop quality” for their child. It’s what we have the great fortune of doing every day at the shop – help people enjoy the sport we all love.

We’re in peak riding season. Let this newsletter be your kick in the pants to get out and go for a ride. If you’ve got a bike you need to get back in riding condition, schedule an appointment or just bring it by the shop. We’re ready to help get you back on the trail! If you are eyeing something new, we’ve got some new arrivals from JamisSpecialized and Salsa in stock. Our inventory of pre-loved bikes is ever changing as well. Reach out if we can help.

Full disclosure about this months newsletter – its long – especially if you watch all the videos and check out many of the links shared. We are thinking and breathing bikes (and bike stuff) most every day. In this newsletter AND in the shop, we feel it is our job to wade through the excess of crap in/around our industry. If something is shared here or if you see product in our small shop, we’ve thought tirelessly about it and enjoy it/use it ourselves.

We hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter. Of course, if we are missing something or if you have something to contribute, please share. We read all the replies to this email and do our best to respond.

In closing, please consider following us on Instagram and Strava and join us for Crank to Coffee each Saturday. We are here for you and hope to see you on the trail or at the shop soon. Thanks for being rad and supporting your local bike shop!

– Bobby, Lou, Jeff & Rod

🙏 Sending our thoughts & prayers to Cal Till’s family

Remember, you can buy online and ship to store OR swing by and we’ll help you decide which one is right for you. As a matter of fact, our friend and Specialized Rep Tony (who you’ve seen on our Instagram lately) brought one by this week for us to check out!

We’re excited to share that Bike Tech launched the Bicycle Free Box this month! This community-driven project provides a dedicated space for cyclists to donate and pick up gently used bike gear—everything from pedals and saddles to tubes and tools. It’s all about giving new life to pre-loved equipment and helping fellow riders keep rolling.

We loved bringing this project to life, teaming up with local creatives Jake Grisamore (GrisWorks), who built the box, and Bo Walker (@bometheus), who painted the signage with the rules for sharing. This one is special to Elizabeth and Bobby, inspired by the free gear swaps we discovered on our travels in Colorado. Now, we’re thrilled to bring that same spirit of generosity and cycling camaraderie to Macon!

Stop by the shop to check it out and help spread the love for bikes and community.

How it works: Clean out your parts bin! What do you have that you don’t need but still has life left in it? Drop off extra tubes, saddles, pedals, wheels, or any bike gear that could help someone else. Need a part? Take what you need, free of charge!

What’s stored in your garage these days? Be honest—do you have an older, bike shop-quality ride just gathering dust in the corner? Maybe a sweet road bike you haven’t ridden since you ‘upgraded’ or that mountain bike from your glory days that deserves a second shot at life?

Well, we’ve got good news! At Bike Tech, we love helping great bikes find new homes. If you’ve got something quality you’re not using, bring it by! Whether you’re looking to sell it or trade it in toward something shiny and new, we’re here to help. And hey, if you’re on the hunt for a solid used bike, check out what we’ve got in stock—it changes all the time. Let’s make sure those bikes see some action instead of collecting cobwebs!

Here is an example of what is currently in stock…

Giant Talon

Size: Small
Color: Desert Sage
Details: Great entry level mountain bike! Originally purchased at Bike Tech and then traded in. Just went through the service department and is ready to ride as-is. Of course, if you wanted to add some new OneUp pedals and grips, you could…
