SUMMARY:Middle Georgia Epic
DESCRIPTION:COURSE DESCRIPTION \nThe Middle Georgia Epic is the longest multi-surface road race in Georgia\, offering both a 200k and 100k distances for racers to choose from.   The race starts and finishes at the charming Blue Goose\, Georgia’s only bike hostel\, in Irwinton.  Each route consists of gently rolling country roads\, with approximately half the route paved\, the other half a mix of gravel\, sand\, dirt\, and clay.  The variety of surfaces along the route make bike/tire choice an interesting challenge.  Skinnier tires are faster on the pavement\, but will struggle on loose/soft surfaces.  The race will be held rain or shine\, so keep that in mind when choosing equipment! \nCOURSE MARKING \nThere will be no course markings or signage.  Racers can download the GPX file and load it into a GPS\, or they can prepare their own cue sheets.  Cue sheets are allowed\, but you have to make them yourself.  This is not a closed course – racers will encounter traffic and are expected to respect all rules of the road.  Ride smart\, ride safe. \nMINIMAL SUPPORT \nBoth races will have minimal official support\, meaning racers need to be well prepared and self sufficient.  Each route will have only one official aid stop near the half way point where water and some snacks will be provided.  Racers will be provided with a 1-gallon ziplock drop bag they can use to send items ahead to the aid station. In order to keep the race fair\, and keep traffic off the route\, no personal outside support is allowed.  Racers  are allowed to use any stores or publicly available services along the route however\, so feel free to stop at a gas station to buy water\, but racers cannot have family/friends/team members meet them anywhere on the course – including the aid stations.  Racers are allowed (and encouraged) to help one another if needed. \nMANDATORY EQUIPMENT \nHelmets are required for all racers.  Lights are encouraged as well.

Then you’re barreling downtown for the Cupcake Crucible challenge with Bike Tech. DESCRIPTION:In 2018 the Red Clay Ramble will be a little less “Hot” and a little more “Fun” and about the same amount of “Dirty”.  We are moving the date out of the oppressive August heat and into early June and also will wrap up our SGS series earlier in the year .  Again we are partnering with Bike Walk Baldwin and Old Capital Racing for a gravel grinder that explores the red clay back roads of middle Georgia. The course is on a mix of dirt\, gravel and paved county roads. While this course is super-fast with only 2\,300 feet of climb\, the Georgia heat will test even the best racers’ endurance and the gravel\, sand and red clay roads will put their bike handling skills to the test as well. \nDistance: 56 miles\nElevation: 2\,300 feet

DESCRIPTION:The three courses offer a variety of terrain with the CENTURY route including a terrific almost -12- mile coast back toward Warm Springs and on into the Lake Meriwether area. As in the past there will be food\, fun and entertainment offered at the Peaches in the Pines Festival. Our great volunteers have agreed to again provide the “Best of the Rest” rest stops including homemade treats and our memorable Meriwether County hospitality. He’ll teach you the basics: deflating the tire and removing it from the wheel\, removing the tube\, replacing the tube and tire on the wheel\, and reinflating the tire. \nPlease bring a wheel from your bike\, a pair of tire levers\, and a way to inflate your tire – either a frame pump or CO2 cartridges. \nBike Tech will provide a limited number of spare levers and pumps. There will also be levers and pumps available for purchase.
